Responsibilities include Extension (75%) and Research (25%) split for vegetable production on the Texas High Plains. Areas of interest include vegetable and field-grown ornamentals herbicide screening, as well as testing new vegetable varieties and/or methods of production.

Classes:
High Plains Vegetable Conference
An annual day-long conference held at West Texas A&M University with exhibitors, speakers and professional instruction on timely topics concerning the Texas High Plains vegetable industry. Attended by growers, industry reps, and Master Gardeners.
High Plains Vegetable and Weed Control Field Day
An annual Field Day that is held during the growing season to demonstrate research projects concerning vegetable weed control and promising vegetable varieties for the Texas High Plains. Attended by growers, industry reps, and Master Gardeners.
Master Gardener Courses
Annually teach over 5 classes for regional Master Gardener courses in Lubbock and Amarillo including Plant Biology, Cool-Season Vegetables, Warm-Season Vegetables, General Vegetable Gardening, and Principles of Weed Science.
Area of Research:
Responsible for vegetable crops production on the Texas High Plains. Extension (75%) and Research (25%) efforts that include statewide screening of herbicides for potential registrations of products important to the Texas vegetable industry, herbicide research in field-grown ornamentals, and vegetable variety testing for the High Plains.

Additional Information:
Work closely with universities nationwide and the IR-4 Minor Crops Food Use Program (http://ir4.rutgers.edu/) to aid in registration of new herbicide uses and registrations for vegetable crops throughout the United States.
Serve on Board of Directors for West Texas Agricultural Chemical Institute ( http://wtaci.tamu.edu/) and the Texas Vegetable Assocation (http://www.tva.org/). Active member of the Weed Science Society of America and American Society for Horticultural Science.
