Facilities

Horticulture Building

The department is located in the Horticulture/Forest Science Building (HFSB). The 90,000 square foot building boasts a beautiful atrium, modern spacious research and teaching laboratories with the latest scientific equipment, and a growth chamber complex.

Greenhouse space, totaling 38,000 square feet, is conveniently located behind the building. Also adjacent to the building is the Holistic Garden used for educational as well as recreational purposes.

In addition to its central location in HFSB, the department manages facilities at several other locations.

Vegetable Fruit Improvement Center

  • Located in the Centeq Building at Research Park
  • 8 High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC) systems
  • Plant Biotechnology Lab
  • Cell Culture Lab

Horticultural Gardens

  • Student managed and maintained facility
  • Over 2,500 specimens in 30 different planting areas
  • Open to the public from dawn until dusk

Horticultural Farm

  • 160 Acres
  • 2 Miles from Campus
  • Research conducted on fruit, vegetable, and ornamental production

The department scientists also occupy laboratory and greenhouse space in the Institute for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology, located next to the Horticulture/Forest Science building.
