Application Process
Admission to the department is based on many criteria, including:
- The person's academic record
- Letters of recommendation
- Statement of purpose
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores
The GRE and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results must be received by the Office of Admissions and Records before an application can be processed. An application fee is required of all U.S. citizens, permanent residents and international applicants applying for admission.
Students from other countries not only must meet these requirements but also must demonstrate the ability to read, write and understand English. Those whose native language is other than English must score at least 550 on TOEFL and also must pass an English proficiency exam after arrival at Texas A&M University.

- GRE scores
- TOEFL scores

Applications should be in 4 to 6 months before the semester begins, particularly for those interested in assistantships and fellowships. International applications must conform to University deadlines, which may differ from the departmental deadlines.
