Before you create your eportfolio Web site, you must activate your Web serving space. Go to http://people.tamu.edu/ and click on the link "Web Space Setup". You will need your NetID to proceed. |

Log in to your Open Access Lab (OAL) account manager and select the "Setup My Webpage" link from the left menu. In the right window, click "Enable" to activate sharing your personal Web space. Be sure to copy the link to your page and keep it for future reference (it's actually just http://people.tamu.edu/~yourNetID).

The Open Access Labs have a number of applications which assist you in creating your Web pages. All have Dreamweaver and Frontpage, as well as several image editing and graphics applications. |

For this illustration, we will demonstrate setting up Dreamweaver to manage your Web site. Open Dreamweaver, select that you want to use the design view, select that you want to create a new html page. |

Proceed to the site tab on the upper menu bar and select "manage sites". You need to define the new site parameters before you proceed. |

Select a name for your site; this will allow you to identify this site within Dreamweaver, but this name does not appear on the Web. Click "next" to proceed.... |

Click the "no I do not want to use server technology" button and then "next" to proceed. (The server technology used here actually refers to a dynamic database server such as ColdFusion, SQL, or Filemaker Pro). |

Click that you want to edit files locally, and then select the folder where your files will be stored. On the Open Access Labs computers, click on the folder icon and browse to the U (Unix) drive, open it and select the "public_html" folder. All files in this folder can be accessed from the Web when your account is enabled. Click "next" to proceed... |

Select that you want to connect to your by a "local/network" connection, and click "next" to proceed... |

Click that you "do not want to enable check in check out" since you will be the only person editing your files, and click "next" to proceed... |

You should see a summary window that looks similar to the one at left. Click "done" and then begin editing your first page. Remember to name your first page (the homepage) index.html which is the default homepage name on the people server. Also, remember to type a title for your page in the title position on the Dreamweaver layout. Now, you're a Webmaster! |

Simply download the zip archive from the link below the illustration you like, unzip the files into your Web directory (public_html directory on the U drive), and modify the files to your needs. | |
