Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate

The Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate contains 18 hours of concentrated study in the areas of commercial and residential green space construction, maintenance and business operations. The certificate is designed to provide a knowledge base to those individuals who have an interest in pursuing a career that involves the management of interiorscapes, exteriorscapes, and/or commercial, public, and private green spaces. The certificate is open to all majors, but students should consult with their academic advisor prior to submitting a Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate program application.

Program Requirements

  • Students must complete a Portfolio Benchmark Assessment
  • Students must pass the Texas Certified Landscape Associate exam administered by the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association before completion of the certificate

How to Apply

Confirm Eligibility

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at Texas A&M and, if required, have permission from their departmental advisor to apply for the program
  • Any major at Texas can apply
  • An overall TAMU GPA of 2.0 or higher is required for acceptance into the Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate program
  • Must complete prerequisite course HORT 201 Horticultural Science and Practices
  • Must complete Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate program application

Consult with Advisor

Per University guidelines, the student’s home college or major department is responsible for advising students pursuing a Certificate in Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management

Complete Application Steps

  1. Meet with your departmental academic advisor to discuss certificate options and how these courses may apply to your specific degree plan
  2. You may wish to meet with an academic advisor from the Horticultural Sciences Department to discuss courses and proper course sequence
  3. You will officially apply for the certificate using the Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate Application; once approved, you will receive an email from the department stating you have been accepted into the Sustainable Interior and Exterior Green Space Management Certificate Program.
